SUZAN'S BLOG

Welcome

We live in a Victorian farmhouse that’s roughly 110 years old. And when I say “roughly”, I mean it in every sense of the word. Roughly, because a courthouse fire made the exact age of our house lost to history. Roughly, because there is not one precise angle or perfectly plumb floor in the whole place. An old house will teach you a thing or two about perfection. In the true logical measurable sense of the word, there is not much that’s “perfect” about this house – except the way we love it.

It’s the same with creating a film, a television show, or any kind of creative endeavor. I have never finished a single project where I walked away feeling that it was perfect. There’s always one more person I’d hoped to interview, one more thing I would’ve added if we hadn’t come to the end of our time and money. Then of course, there’s always that shot that we missed when we first arrived and were just setting up the camera. The universe always teases you with that one shot that eluded you for whatever reason!

I’m always proud of the way we put everything we have into making a project. It’s the same with this old house…we work hard, we call in experts, we get creative within the budget we have. Perfection is subjective. Loving what you do is priceless.
